Commissions
I'd love to create a special commission just for you! The commission process creates a bespoke, original artwork to suit your tastes, room size, and colour schemes. I accept commissions based on my existing style and mediums. Read on to find out more about the process.

Commission Process
- To start, I will share with you a questionnaire which lets me know more about your brief. We can either chat through it, meet up and discuss (location dependent), or you can complete it and send it back to me via email – whichever suits you best.
- Once we are agreed on the brief and budget, the creative process can begin!
- First, I will produce sketches to give a rough idea of what the painting will look like. I will send this to you to discuss and review. I have included some examples below of sketches next to the final painting, so that you can see how my sketches translate to the final design.
- Once you are happy with this, I’ll start painting and will provide you with some updates along the way to make sure that you are happy with the direction and are connected to your piece.
- Once finished, I’ll send a picture of the completed painting, and with your approval, I will then sign and varnish it. The varnish will act as a protective layer and help to preserve the colours to ensure your painting never fades.
- Finally, I will ask for full payment, before arranging delivery of your bespoke piece of art!
Prices and Payment
- I request a 30% payment upfront, and the final 70% on completion of the artwork.
- My fees are slightly more than the paintings on my website, due to a commission being personal and bespoke to you, and taking more time to complete.
- On completion of the artwork, and once I have your approval, I will require the remaining 70% payment within 7 days.
- I can do any custom size painting, but below are a few common sizes and prices as a guide.

Timeline
- I usually ask for 4-5 weeks to complete a commission, depending on how much other work and commitments I have at the time. This includes time after completion to seal and varnish the work, and to let it fully dry before delivering it to its new home. If you have a specific deadline in mind, please let me know and I will aim to be as flexible as I can.
- The timeframe will also vary depending on how many checkpoints you would like, and how many revisions are needed both to the initial designs, and to the painting itself, which means it is ideal to approach the process with some flexibility and I find it works best not to have a hard deadline, but instead work towards an indicative completion date.
- Here is an example of how the time might be used:
Terms and Conditions
- If you decide not to proceed with the commission, at any stage after brief is confirmed, then you will forfeit the 30% deposit. If I have already completed the artwork, then I retain the right to sell the painting to the general public.
- Copyright and reproduction rights are reserved by Judy Century Art and, unless agreed otherwise, I can sell print reproductions of the artwork. If you would like the work to remain completely original to you, and no prints to be made available for sale, the cost of the artwork will increase by £200.
- Judy Century Art reserves the right to promote and advertise work from the commission process.
- If your painting needs posting based on your location, a delivery fee will be added to the cost of the commission. This is usually in the region of £30, but varies depending on the commission size, and whether it is framed.
- Delivery and returns are subject to the terms listed in the delivery and returns section of my website.
